indianapolis: from the highest height

This was a completely spur of the moment photo. I was driving home from work late at night and noticed that the stars were really bright. Even though it was 25 degrees outside, I decided I had to grab my camera and capture the stars.

Setting a really long exposure was a great idea as to my surprise, I found so many more stars that I could not see before.

I love this image, but the best part about it is that Canon even recognized this photo and commented about it on Twitter.

Photoshoot with Olivia at the circle of lights

The Circle of Lights is a beautiful tradition in downtown Indianapolis. Each year, the power and light union sponsors the event lighting the Soldiers and Sailors monument in the center of the circle city.

I had an idea for a photoshoot that added my own set of Christmas lights to the model I was shooting. This created some really cool effects and I think created a very creative look.

Of course, I had to try to take a few beauty shots of the downtown location. It was so cold, but so worth the freezing to get these awesome pictures.

The unofficial Start of winter

The freeze returned to Indiana, and you know what that means… more photography of ice, snow and whatever other cold, unpleasant things happen in my back yard. Hope you enjoy these photos from the warmth of wherever you may be. I’ll add more to this album as winter continues.

A beautiful collection of photos from a day in Southern Indiana. I love being and nature and I am even happier in being able to share these stunning photos from my expedition in the state park. Maybe nature photography is my thing.

Photoshoot with Corinne and Story

Corinne was a friend I met in high school who wound up going to Ball State with me. Story is Corinne’s dog and lifelong friend.

Toward the end of Story’s life, Corinne asked if I could do a photoshoot with her and Story that captured Story’s happiness, their favorite places and things to do together and created a memory for Corinne to hold on to for the rest of her life.

I am so glad I got to capture the story of these two kindred spirits.

winter is here

It's no joke that the winters in Indiana are brutal. It may get 20 degrees below freezing and it may drop snow and ice from the sky, but Indiana's winter's are pretty at least. After the photoshoot, I remember asking myself, "what compelled me to go outside and take pictures?" That question was answered right after I saw these pictures. It was worth it!

Maternity Photoshoot with Madilyn

Soon after her Gender Reveal party, Madilyn really began to show her baby bump.

We headed off to Cool Creek Park in Westfield, IN and explored a few beautiful nature scenes with a few different outfits for her maternity photoshoot.

I’m so happy with the way these photos turned out. You can’t tell, but it was an incredibly windy day. I thought for sure my camera would fly out of my hand, let alone Madilyn’s hair staying in place.

It's (going to be) a girl - Madilyn's gender reveal party

Congrats Madilyn, you'll be having a girl! It was fun to capture the moments you found out you were having a baby girl while you spent time with your closest family and friends. I always love spending time with family and capturing the special moments with my camera.

indianapolis Zoo

Labor Day weekend of 2017 I visited the Indianapolis Zoo.  I had not been there for at least 5 years and a lot had changed. Every single change amazed me. There was a new orangutan exhibit with a really cute baby orangutan. There was a new plaza constructed that looked so modern but so zoo themed that it was incredible. There was time in the day where the new plaza was filled people for a bird demonstration where the bird trainers would release the macaws 1/2 mile away and they would fly to the plaza. It was incredible. As always, the dolphin show was mesmerizing and inspiring. I admire and support the zoo's non-profit conservation efforts and I know that I will be back at the zoo again sometime soon.

Carly is a good friend of mine that I have known since high school. We have worked together in a service job and we both go to Ball State and might work together in the future. She is an acting/theater major at Ball State and is very talented. She accompanied as an actress on the Indiana Alarm commercials.

We went on a photoshoot around Carmel, IN one morning and I was really happy with the results!

Happy 50th greg, mark and kyle

There comes a time when people get old. Usually aging 'over the hill' isn't any fun, but these three guys make it look fun for sure. Who couldn't make getting older fun when your buddies that you grew up with were the cool dudes in high school. They're still pretty darn cool today.

They may be 50, but that doesn't mean they don't know how to party. Happy Birthday!

Having a friend perform in this group at WGI, I wanted to take photos of Pride. I managed to take, what I think, is one of the greatest photos that I have ever taken.

Add on a little bit of graphic design and I think it is something really cool.

This was a very fun photoshoot. I had recently purchased a new black backdrop for this photoshoot and I wanted to test it out. Olwen asked if I could do a photoshoot with her, so we made it happen.

My favorite thing about this photoshoot is the editing approach I took to the pictures. I made them look cinematic for a photo and they looked smooth and sepia with a little bit of grain.

Everyone should know that I have an awesome cousin. And my awesome cousin brought her really cute husky, Niko, with her on the photoshoot.

This was my first official photoshoot and adding in a dog to the photoshoot added an extra channel, but I'm so happy with how these turned out. It was really easy working with Madilyn, considering she is my cousin.
